Caroline Ellison, Former CEO of Alameda Research, Will Testify Against FTX Founder SBF
On Tuesday, October 10, Caroline Ellison, a former Alameda Research CEO and Sam Bankman-Fried’s ex-girlfriend, is scheduled to testify against Bankman-Fried in his impending fraud trial.
Allegations against Bankman-Fried include exploiting customer funds for his own gain and participating in dangerous trading practices.
Gary Wang, who co-founded FTX and formerly held the position of its chief technology officer, will be followed by Caroline Ellison in the witness lineup.
Wang pleaded guilty to fraud-related charges in December. Last Friday, Wang said that Sam Bankman-Fried gave him the go-ahead to develop a technique that enabled Alameda to steal $8 billion in funds from FTX customers.
FTX co-founder and former Chief Technology Officer Wang’s testimony will conclude on Tuesday, according to the Department of Justice, following an early conclusion in court on Friday. Ellison will be the next witness for the prosecution. Ellison, like Wang, admitted guilt to a number of fraud-related offenses in December.
Due to Columbus Day (Indigenous People’s Day), there will be no court session on Monday. The case will be heard again at 9:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday.
