The G20 finance ministers and central bank governors (FMCBG) conference will take place later this week in Marrakesh, and the agenda will include the release of the roadmap for regulating cryptocurrency assets and reforming multilateral development banks (MDBs).

The annual meetings of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will both be attended by Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs. The annual gathering will be attended by central bankers and finance ministers from all across the world. FM will also be present at investor and bilateral meetings and G20 summits. The conferences are slated to take place in Marrakech, Morocco, from October 11–15, 2023.

The fourth G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) meeting will be co-chaired by Finance Minister Smt. Sitharaman and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shri Shaktikanta Das.

The fourth G20 FMCBG conference on October 12–13 will include two sessions: “Global Economy and Crypto Assets Agenda” and “Strengthening Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) to address Shared Challenges of the 21st Century.”

The G20 leaders convening in New Delhi should enact the recommendations provided in September by the Financial Stability Board (FSB) to regulate, supervise, and manage crypto-asset activities and integrate digital assets into the financial systems.

According to the joint synthesis paper, a complete ban on crypto assets may be challenging to put into effect, their rising use may hinder the transmission of monetary policy.
