Polygon Co-founder Proposes New zk-Powered Ethereum L2 Chain To ApeCoin DAO

Sandeep Nailwal, the co-founder of Polygon, has suggested ApeCoin DAO to create the zk-powered ApeChain built with Polygon’s CDK.

A layer 2 network based on zero-knowledge proofs (ZKP) will be created for the dedicated ApeChain in cooperation with Polygon Labs by an implementation partner. For the expansion and development of its ecosystem, the planned ApeChain would also require a development budget from the ApeCoin DAO treasury.

Sandeep responds to Yuga Labs’ May 2022 revelation that ApeCoin needs a native chain in the forum post. The DAO chose to maintain ApeCoin a part of the Ethereum ecosystem, nevertheless.

The report stated that the proposed ApeChain will offer DAO and its members a revenue stream in the form of subscription fees and staking incentives for network validators “while solving the aforementioned scaling issue.”

Numerous well-known businesses in the decentralized ecosystem have adopted Polygon’s technology stack. Astar Network, a Polkadot subsidiary, just announced the debut of its zkEVM setup, which makes use of Polygon’s CDK.

The community has reacted well to Sandeep’s suggestion, with other individuals supporting and praising him. Following extensive discussion among community members, the idea will then be put to a vote.
