Sending a phony voting proposal on Stargate Snapshot has allowed a thief to take more than $43,000. Over 1,000 users fell victim to the fraud as a result of the phishing URL present in the proposal posted on Stargate Governance. An recognized scammer who alerted users to the danger published the story on LayerZero Discord.

In addition to suggesting a fictitious gSTG token launch and distribution, the hacker directed users to a phishing website to see if they qualified for reward distribution.

The fraudster first purchased $50,000 worth of Stargate Finance’s native token, STG, and staked it to gain access to draft voting proposals.

Based on information from DeBank, the con artist has used the phishing link to steal more than $43,000 from victims. It is made up of various assets spread across different chains, such as $8,639 on the BNB chain, $9,653 on Optimism, $7,405 on Ethereum, and $22,339 on Arbitrum.
