Starknet Allocates 50 Million STRK Tokens to Early Community Member

The Starknet Foundation announced the Early Community Member Program (ECMP), an organized effort to empower and help the community that accelerates the network’s growth by giving around 50 million STRK tokens.

The ECMP will run from October 30 to November 23, 2023, with the community voting on December 29, 2023. According to the blog post, the ECMP initiative was designed to draw attention to the unsung heroes who devoted their time, talents, and hearts to shaping Starknet’s history.

According to the post, the initiative highlighted specific individual contributors, such as individuals who have significantly contributed to technical discourse in the community, contributors listed by key ecosystem projects, organized Starknet-related events, and regularly published Starknet-branded content.

According to the statement, “We intend to use this opportunity and give recognition to individuals that contributed significantly to the Starknet ecosystem in various ways.” Individuals and projects must apply for the funding and provide details about their efforts.

Following the completion of phase 1, the committee will review input and may process a second batch with more criteria. The evaluation committee will employ four criteria to evaluate people and projects for the ECMP: originality, effort, relevance, and reach/impact.

The Starknet Foundation holds around 5 billion STRK in its possession, which stems from its original allocation of 50.1% of the 10 billion STRK initial coined supply. It’s difficult to assess the worth of the tokens because they aren’t trading and will be locked up until at least April.
